Handwriting
In this project I explored portrait art as a theme. What makes a portrait a portrait? I found it very interesting to search for the limits of the definition of the portrait. It's usually an image of the face so the person is recognizable. It's about uniqueness. But, of course, people are unique in many different ways.
I wanted to portray people in a completely different way this time. By focussing on people's hands, where we can discover so much. I noticed that letters can be found in the interplay of lines in the palm of a person's hand. These letters, just like the interplay of lines, are unique. I selected the alphabet from the hands of different people and created an image -a portrait- in the color(s) that express my personal interpretation of their character and/or energy, or their own favorite color(s).
